Yeah, we're pretty freakin' stoked. If you have no idea what we're talking about, here's a quick background: a couple weeks ago we launched Give a Shot, a site connecting photographers & videographers with environmental nonprofits in need of visual storytelling content. Darren Utt from See/Saw was Give a Shot's first volunteer, offering to shoot a beach clean up event for SOLVE the weekend immediately following the platform's launch.
Darren grew up on the Oregon Coast, in Lincoln City, and has been doing beach cleanups since he was a toddler. He said,
The positive impact of a beach cleanup is immediately apparent: the before and after is striking and super gratifying. I was excited to capture that transformation in photos. SOLVE has been spearheading these efforts for decades, so when I saw they needed photo help, I was happy to join in.
He and some of his See/Saw crew, including photographer Andrew Studer, piled in the car and headed west to join SOLVE for a day of some coastline TLC.
See/Saw works with a big network of freelance creatives, so we saw this as an opportunity to volunteer that network. We turned a fun road trip to the beach into a bunch of assets for an organization we believe in, SOLVE.

SOLVE brings together individuals, business groups, and service and conservation groups through volunteering and education to restore the natural spaces and take good care of Oregon. SOLVE facilitates Oregonians of all kinds coming together to volunteer, focusing on beach and illegal dump cleanup, planting native trees, removing invasive plants, and other environmental maintenance projects.
We're grateful for SOLVE's work in caring for our natural environment and for Darren, Andrew and the See/Saw team for volunteering their time to document and share the story.
