Here is your country. Cherish these natural wonders, cherish the natural resources, cherish the history and romance as a sacred heritage, for your children and your children's children. Do not let selfish men or greedy interests skin your country of its beauty, its riches or its romance.
This Giving Tuesday, we hope to show our appreciation for America's natural wonders by donating 10% of sales to The Conservation Alliance. But we're not stopping there. We're also donating 1% of ALL sales as well as matching customer donations to The Conservation Alliance through the end of 2018.
As climate change and increasing development pressures stress our lands, conservation is playing a critical role in protecting biodiversity and the places where we hike, swim, climb, ride, hunt and play. We've been partnering with The Conservation Alliance for the last three years to protect the wild places across North America.
So what exactly does The Conservation Alliance do? Let us explain.
The Conservation Alliance was founded in 1989 by REI, Patagonia, The North Face, and Kelty in an effort to increase outdoor industry support for conservation efforts. Today, the Alliance comprises of over 220 brands.
100% of membership fees are redistributed to effective grassroots organizations working on local conservation projects through a grants program. The organization has a proven track record of success - having helped save more than 51 million acres of wildlands, protect 3,102 miles of rivers, stop or remove 30 dams, designate 5 marine reserves, and purchase 13 climbing areas.
But what makes the Alliance even more impactful is its strength in numbers. Lobbying wild causes at the federal level, members of the Alliance make multiple trips to DC each year to lobby representatives in favor of public lands protection. The organization also keeps members up to date on pressing conservation issues, drafting and circulating industry responses to proposed bills that impact our public lands.
We believe that the combination of supporting grassroots organizations through grants and using collective industry influence to push our representatives to support our wild places makes the Alliance particularly effective in its mission
It's our responsibility to not let selfish men or greedy interests skin our country of its beauty, its riches or its romance. America's landscapes and wildlife are to be treasured and protected for our kids and their kids so that they can enjoy the same hiking trails and fishing holes that we have had.
